Scope Black OPS GR - 9FT - 3.5LB

The Nash Scope Black OPS GR 9FT 3.5LB is a high-quality compact carp rod designed for anglers who want to combine maximum performance with the mobility and control of a 9 ft rod. Within the Scope series, Black OPS GR represents the highest specification level, featuring an advanced 40T Japanese Toray carbon blank reinforced with Graphene and finished with premium components from ALPS and SeaGuide.

The 3.5 lb test curve gives this model more power than the 3 lb version, making it especially suitable for heavier lead weights, tougher conditions, and situations where extra casting and fighting strength are needed. At the same time, the compact 9 ft length remains ideal for mobile fishing, bait boat use, smaller swims, and conditions where a traditional 12 ft rod is less practical.

40T Japanese Toray carbon with Graphene

The Black OPS GR series uses a new blank construction combining 40T Japanese Toray carbon with Graphene. Graphene is still relatively rare in carp rods and is mainly known from high-end competition rods where low weight, high strength, and sensitivity are key.

This material combination results in a lighter, slimmer, and stronger blank than previous Scope designs. At the same time, recovery is faster, and the rod feels more direct and responsive during both casting and fighting.

• 40T Japanese Toray carbon
• Graphene reinforcement
• Lower blank weight
• Slimmer blank profile
• High strength
• Faster recovery
• Improved sensitivity and responsiveness

3.5LB for extra power

With a 3.5 lb test curve, this model offers extra power compared to the 3 lb version. This makes the rod better suited for situations requiring heavier leads, sturdy PVA presentations, or more powerful casting.

During the fight, the heavier test curve also provides extra reserve when holding a fish out of weed, obstacles, or other challenging conditions.

• Test curve: 3.5 lb
• More power than the 3 lb version
• Suitable for heavier lead weights
• More reserve during tough fights
• Suitable for demanding conditions

Faster recovery and precise blank response

A key feature of the Black OPS GR blank is its higher recovery speed. After loading, the blank returns faster to its original position, limiting after-vibration and making the rod feel tighter and more precise.

This contributes to controlled casts and a direct feel when playing a fish.

Refined Scope action

Nash has further refined the well-known Scope action to create a sharper and more precise blank. The rod retains the versatile character Scope is known for but adds extra speed, control, and casting performance.

The combination of 9 ft length and 3.5 lb test curve makes this model especially interesting for anglers who want to fish compactly without sacrificing power.

Compact 9FT length

The 9 ft length makes the rod easy to manoeuvre in tight swims, from a bait boat, or among vegetation. At the same time, it offers more casting options than a very short 6 ft rod, making it a versatile middle ground within the Scope series.

• Suitable for mobile carp fishing
• Practical for bait boat fishing
• Suitable for small and medium waters
• Handy in swims with limited space
• Great control during the fight
• Compact alternative to longer carp rods

ALPS CWG-AI reel seat

The Black OPS GR is equipped with a high-quality ALPS CWG-AI reel seat. This reel seat features a carbon insert, integrated rubber damping, and two machined compression rings.

This ensures the reel is firmly secured while the reel seat remains comfortable in the hand. The premium finish perfectly matches the rod’s technical character.

• ALPS CWG-AI reel seat
• Carbon insert
• Integrated rubber damping
• Twin machined compression washers
• Secure reel attachment

SeaGuide TCDG guides

The 9FT 3.5LB model is fitted with SeaGuide TCDG guides with Adaman coating. This coating is developed to reduce wear and groove formation during intensive use.

For this specific 9 ft 3.5 lb variant, Nash uses a 50 mm starting guide tapering to a 12 mm anti-tangle tip guide. The high stand-off profile of the guides contributes to controlled line flow during casting.

• SeaGuide TCDG guides
• Adaman coating
• 50 mm starting guide
• 12 mm anti-tangle tip guide
• High stand-off profile
• Designed for efficient line management
• Extra protection against wear

12 mm anti-tangle tip guide

The 12 mm anti-tangle tip guide helps prevent the line from wrapping around the rod tip during casting. This ensures reliable line flow and reduces the chance of problems during powerful casts.

PE knitted handle grip

The handle is finished with PE knitted material. This grip combines durability with comfort and is easy to keep clean after use.

• PE knitted grip
• Durable finish
• Comfortable hold
• Easy to maintain

1K carbon line clip

The integrated 1K carbon line clip allows the line to be neatly held along the blank when the rod is resting on the rests. The carbon construction also adds a subtle premium detail to the finish.

Black OPS finish

The complete rod features a restrained, technical Black OPS style. Matte black wrappings, matte alignment markers, and embossed Black OPS branding create a modern and minimalist look.

• Matte black wrappings
• Matte black alignment markers
• Embossed Black OPS branding
• Sleek and minimalist appearance

Machined butt cap

The butt end is fitted with a machined metal butt cap. With the included replaceable Butt Lock cap, the rod can also be combined with Nash Scope Butt Lock Pegs.

• Machined metal butt cap

• Compatible with Scope Butt Lock Pegs
• Designed for extra security on rod rests
