Sonik Sports is taking a major new step with Connect & Cast. The brand has been known for years for carp rods, reels, bivvies, bedchairs, and other gear, but one important product group was missing until now: terminal tackle. With the new Sonik Connect & Cast range, that changes. From late 2026 and into spring 2027, a complete end tackle range will be rolled out for carp anglers in the UK and Europe.
In the introduction video, Martin Ford explains in detail how the range came about, what choices Sonik made, and why the brand did not simply want to bring as many products as possible to market. The idea behind Connect & Cast is precisely to develop a clear, manageable range in which every component has a clear function, with great attention to sharpness, reliability, ease of use, and value for money.
Why Sonik Sports is now launching terminal tackle
According to Martin Ford, Connect & Cast is a logical next step for Sonik. The brand has existed for about nineteen years and during that time has developed nearly every major product group within carp fishing. Rods, reels, tents, bedchairs, and accessories were already well represented, but terminal tackle had long been absent from the range.
The question during development was not simply how Sonik could create yet another range of hooks, swivels, and rigs. The terminal tackle market is huge, and almost every known rig or hook type already exists in multiple variants. The starting point was therefore: which products do carp anglers actually use, where can quality be improved, and how can Sonik offer more value per pack?
Ford brings a lot of his own experience to the table. From his background in fishing media, he worked with many well-known carp anglers and over the years saw countless rigs, hook types, and technical developments. That practical knowledge was an important part of the development of Connect & Cast.
Not as much tackle as possible, but a targeted range
A recurring point in the video is that Sonik deliberately wants to keep the range compact. For various product groups, they chose not to offer dozens of variants when a smaller number of models can cover nearly all practical situations.
This is evident, for example, in the leads. Connect & Cast offers six key lead types: Inline Flat Pear, Swivel Flat Pear, Dumpy Pear Swivel, Distance Lead, Block Lead, and a special Heli System Lead. The most commonly used weights range roughly from 2 oz to 5 oz, while the heavy Block Leads for boat fishing go up to 10 oz.
For the color, Sonik deliberately avoided various coatings. During tests on gravel, weed, and different bottom types, a muddy brown shade proved to blend in exceptionally well in most conditions, according to Ford. That color forms the basis of the lead range.
Lead-free Slider Backleads
In addition to the standard carp lead, Connect & Cast introduces a series of Slider Backleads. These backleads are lead-free and available in four weights: 14, 21, 28, and 42 grams.
They use an InvisyCam plastic clip that can slide over the mainline. The material is strong enough to hold the backlead in place but designed to release under serious snags.
In the video, Ford also demonstrates how he prefers to rig a backlead himself. Instead of struggling to reach the line after fully laying down the rod, he leaves the bail open after the cast, keeps the line under control, and pulls the rod back until the line is easily accessible. Then the backlead can be attached and slid down the line.
Ready-made rigs within Connect & Cast
A key part of the new Sonik tackle range is the ready-made rigs. The idea is that an angler can open a pack, attach the rig, and start fishing almost immediately.
The range includes a Standard Hair Rig, Combi Blowback Rig, PVA Bag Rig, Stinger Spinner Rig, Ronnie Rig Sections, and a Chod Rig.
Sonik also uses many of its own components from the same Connect & Cast family. The rigs are built with Blade Point hooks, InvisyCam coated braid, kickers, sleeves, swivels, and other parts that are also available separately.
For example, the Standard Hair Rig and Blowback Rig use the Blade Point Wide Gape. The PVA Bag Rig is compact, measuring four inches in length. The Stinger Spinner Rig features a crimped boom in green or brown and a special hook model with a slight offset.
The idea behind this is important: ready-made rigs shouldn’t be a separate part of the range. The individual products and pre-rigged setups complement each other, so anglers can easily build the same or similar systems themselves later on.
Blade Point: seven Sonik carp hooks
According to Ford, the development of the hooks received special attention. His vision is clear: a sharp hook is one of the most crucial parts of a carp setup. An expensive rod or reel is of little use if the part that actually needs to penetrate the carp’s mouth doesn’t perform well.
Under the name Blade Point, Connect & Cast introduces seven different hook models:
- Choddy
- Wide Gape
- Crick
- Medium Curve
- Long Curve
- Snag Hook
- Long Shank
All models are developed to be very sharp straight out of the pack. Ford states that he is not a big fan of re-sharpening used hooks. Once a point is damaged, bent, or less sharp, he prefers to replace the hook entirely.
A lot of attention for the Blade Point Choddy
The Choddy is probably the clearest example of how much detail went into development. According to Ford, the angle between the eye, hook shank, and chod material had to be just right. Prototypes were sent back multiple times before Sonik was satisfied with the final model.
That may sound like a small detail, but with a chod rig, the hook’s geometry largely determines how the stiff material runs off the eye and how the entire presentation sits.
The Blade Point Choddy is used on the ready-made Connect & Cast Chod Rig and is also available separately for anglers who want to tie their own rigs.
Wide Gape as a true all-round hook
The Wide Gape is the most general hook in the range. Sonik positions this model as a versatile option for bottom baits, wafters, snowman presentations, and various pop-up rigs.
The hook comes in sizes 2, 4, 6, and 8. As with the rest of the Blade Point range, the emphasis is strongly on a sharp point straight out of the pack.
Specialist hooks for spinner rigs, Ronnie rigs, and snag fishing
For more specific applications, there are several other models. The Crick has a short shank and a distinctive offset, mainly developed with spinner rigs in mind. The Medium Curve is Ford’s favorite model for Ronnie rigs and is also used on the pre-rigged Ronnie sections.
The Long Curve offers more length and can be used for pop-up, Ronnie, and blowback presentations, among others.
For tough conditions, there is the Snag Hook. This model uses thicker steel and is designed for situations where a carp must be stopped immediately. Besides sizes 2, 4, and 6, there is even a size 1, especially with heavier European carp fishing in mind.
The Long Shank finally connects to a classic hook shape. Ford refers to well-known long-shank patterns from the past, combining modern materials and a sharper point with a proven base shape.
Connect & Cast booms for building your own rigs
Sonik aims with Connect & Cast to serve both anglers who use ready-made rigs and carp anglers who prefer to build their own. That’s why an extensive range of ready-made boom sections is being released.
There are clear fused booms and crimped fluorocarbon booms in green and brown. Available lengths range from approximately 5 to 7.5 inches, with various quick-change connectors.
Ford also emphasizes the usefulness of shorter booms. While many anglers automatically go for seven inches or longer, shorter variants can be particularly effective in, for example, PVA bag fishing or situations where a rig needs to reset quickly.
Each pack contains four booms. This fits with an important principle of Connect & Cast: according to Ford, Sonik wants to consistently offer more product for the money.
InvisyCam kickers and terminal tackle
Sonik also tries to build the range logically with small components. For example, the kickers come in different sizes and color combinations.
There will be an InvisyCam camouflage variant in small, medium, and large. Additionally, green and brown are combined in one pack so an angler doesn’t have to buy two separate bags. For more striking presentations, there are combinations of yellow, white, and red.
The same concept continues in the swivel range. Connect & Cast includes size 8 swivels, ring swivels, quick-change swivels, size 11 variants, spinner swivels, micro hook ring swivels, rig rings, quick links, and bait screws.
Complete leader systems
Sonik also introduces three pre-rigged leaders: an unleaded version and two leadcore systems.
The supple unleaded leader is 75 cm long and finished with a size 8 swivel. Additionally, a 40 lb leadcore Lead Clip System appears with an InvisyCam lead clip, tail rubber, and quick-change swivel.
The third variant is a Heli System. Sonik uses a quick-change connection for the lead, buffer bead, ring swivel, and an adjustable safety system above the rig.
Ford pays special attention to safety in the video. Especially with a helicopter setup, the top bead must be correctly set so the rig can slide over the system in case of line break and eventually come free when conditions require it.
Lead clip kits for rig tubing users
For anglers who prefer rig tubing, complete Lead Clip Kits are available in InvisyCam, brown, and green. Each set contains two meters of fast-sinking tubing, six lead clips, six tail rubbers, and six size 8 swivels.
Safety pins are also included, allowing the swivel to be secured in the lead clip if desired.
Hook beads, bait stops, and extender stops
A terminal tackle range is ultimately made complete by the small components. The InvisyCam Hook Beads have been tested for months by Ford and specially developed to stay firmly on the hook shank, even during hard and long casts.
In addition, there are standard bait stops in multiple colors and extender stops for anglers who want to use different sizes of hookbait without having to tie a new rig every time.
For bait stops, a pack contains 180 stops according to Sonik. The extender stops come in mixed sizes, allowing easy switching between different diameters of boilies or other hookbaits.
Connect & Cast PVA
PVA also becomes part of the range. Sonik introduces solutions for solid bags, mesh, and tape for stringers.
According to the presentation, it’s all-season PVA without scent and without any residue left behind. Here too, Sonik emphasizes a good amount of product for the price.
Rig tools to complete the range
Connect & Cast is rounded off with a range of practical rig tools. These include a stringer needle, boilie needle, heavy gated needle, fine latch needle, bait drill, rig puller, stripper tools, Grip & Snip, and a Crimp & Crush tool.
The crimp tool comes with crimps in 0.6 and 0.7 mm included, so anglers can immediately make their own boom sections.
The philosophy behind Sonik Connect & Cast
What stands out most in the presentation is that Sonik Connect & Cast is not positioned as a range that reinvents carp fishing. Many basic elements have existed for years, and Sonik acknowledges that.
The focus is much more on selection, refinement, and value. Familiar hook shapes have been revisited with modern materials and a very sharp point. Popular rigs are offered ready-made with components also available separately. Packs deliberately contain enough parts to prepare multiple rods or spare rigs.
Extensive testing has been done. Prototypes were adjusted and reproduced when a corner, material, or finish wasn’t good enough. Some components went back to the manufacturer multiple times before Sonik gave approval.
The ultimate idea is simple: terminal tackle must be reliable when it counts. The angler should be able to open a pack, trust the components, and then just get fishing.
When will Sonik Connect & Cast be released?
According to Sonik, the new Connect & Cast terminal tackle range will be gradually introduced from the end of 2026. The full rollout to the UK and Europe is planned around early 2027, with spring 2027 as the key moment when the range should become widely visible.
For Sonik Sports, Connect & Cast represents a completely new product category. For carp anglers, it mainly means that the well-known Sonik concept of offering lots of functionality at a competitive price is now also applied to hooks, rigs, leaders, lead, PVA, and the small components that ultimately get closest to the carp.
